82 Jeep CJ 7 Daily Driver Dana 300 Hard Top

This has been my daily driver for some time now, I still drive it and will until its sold. Again this is a driver not some project thats half finished, and needs a few things that really are 20 things-funny how that happens. You can drive this home, and then drive it the next day and the next day. As such its not a show jeep or an off road monster, its far from perfect-hence the price, perfect CJs start at 5K and only go north. If you have never driven a CJ or owned one, they are far from the most comfortable things on earth they are nothing like TJs (Newer Jeep Wranglers) they are Carbed vehicles designed in the 60s and really did not change much at all. They ride ruff, shift like crap, and get bad gas mileage(I know great sales pitch right), but with four wheel drive, an engine that any backyard monkey could work on, and parts cheap and readily available at any autoparts store they make great go anywhere do anything vehicles.

Now lets get to this Jeep its a 1982 CJ 7 that I have a clear title to in my name, believed to have about 120K on it. Its a 4 speed 6 cylinder jeep thats runs good, and Leaks-NOTHING (those who have CJs know thats rare). The four wheel drive works as it should and engages smoothly, its has the very desirable Dana 300 Transfer case. The trans shifts into all gears buts its far from smooth. It has a lot of new/recent parts 31 BFG All Terrain tires, New Alternator, Battery and Belt, New dash lights, new Fuel Filter, Weber Carb with K&N Filter, radiator just flushed, new Upper rad hose, probably more I am forgetting. Brakes are in good shape and I just bleed them, all lights/turn signals etc work as they should. The Amp and Oil pressure Gauge work-however the oil pressure gauge is aftermarket in the stock location, the fuel gauge does not work (very common in CJs-senders are $20 and your time) nor does the factory temp gauge work, it does however have a more accurate aftermarket temp gauge. Speedometer works but the odometer does not. It has a Smaller Grant Steering wheel so you dont feel like your driving a bus. Heat works, No Radio-But the wiring is there, One windshield wiper(screw the passenger), spare has some good tread and holds air, roll bar has besttop padding, really saves the head, and it has shoulder seat belts not lap belts a real plus. It has a mild lift on it and cleared 33s no problem. Sounds pretty good so far right-now onto the stuff most posters leave out, yea the bad stuff. Its a 1982 Jeep, jeeps like to rust, we have pretty much plated the entire frame, its has the usual jeep rust above the rear wheel wheels that someone mudded over-you can tell (thats why most jeeps have diamond plate there and on the sides its not a look we are covering rust-Haha). The front end is in great shape and pretty much rust free. A previous owner built a homemade wood tool box in back-wood keeps moisture in-Jeeps like to rust so there are two small holes in the bed section about the size of an index card, and some rott at the joint there. The bed section has cheap spray in bed liner in it, and seems to be doing its job. The floor boards have some sheet metal patches screwed down over top of them. If you are not real familiar with CJs your probably thinking this is really bad at this point, if you own one your probably thinking its in better shape then yours-haha. Anyways this is a good Jeep it always starts and takes you where you need to go, be perfect as a beater car, first car for a kid (kids have it too easy now a days, they need to learn to work on cars), or a farm vehicle. This is a driver its not a project that will take 10 things ot be safe. You can register it as historic in MD that means $53 for two year registration, no emissions or inspection and cheap insurance

I always get lots of nasty emails about this last paragraph and frankly I dont care, if it keeps me from wasting even one hour of my life on stupid people its worth it, fyi if you find it offensive usually you fit into one of the categories listed.
